Inaugural Chapitre Bailliage National de Roumanie Bucharest 22/23/24 January 2010
The most important event in the life of any new Bailliage, its baptism in form of a chapitre, took off on Friday evening, January 22nd, 2010 with a traditional Romanian dinner in a freezing Bucharest that was covered in glittering snow. Guests were welcomed in front of the restaurant with traditional hot Romanian Tuica (slibovits), bacon and Romanian cheese. Dr. Roberto Zanghi, the induction officer, his wife and another two members of the Bailliage d’Italie, arrived directly from the airport. As international guests, two confreres from Germany, Commandeur Uwe Kai and Manuel Sauda were welcomed. The Romanian menu was composed from a variation of cold and warm dishes, which introduced plenty of new tastes, especially to our foreign guests. To round it up, the dinner was accompanied with Romanian chansons and music from the interbellic time, performed by a local trio.
Saturday, January 23rd, 2010 saw Bucharest’s Palace of Parliament, the second largest building in the world after the Pentagon, as the perfect stage for „The Big Day”. The solemn induction ceremony was celebrated by Dr. Roberto Zanghi, Bailli Delegue d’Italie and Membre du Conseil Magistral, who was assisted by Dr. Octavian Fagaras, Charge de Mission pour la Roumanie, Mr. Friedrich Niemann, Chancelier de Roumanie and Mrs. Eva Simone Perauer, Charge de Presse. Following the ceremony the guests, conseurs and confreres had the opportunity to visit the Parliment Palace and see several of its vast halls and galeries. The morning closed with a delicate pass around lunch that exceeded all expectations, prepared and served by the white and black brigade of the Athenee Palace Hilton Bucharest, under the command of confreres Clayton Powell, Chef Rotisseur and Markus Rapatz, Chef de Table.
Confrere Marten Schoenrock, Maitre Hotelier and his team from the Hotel Inter Continental Bucharest were hosts of the Gala Diner, themed „A Night with Raffaello”. In the superb surroundings of the hotel’s 21st floor, above the lights of Bucharest, Executive Chef Andrea Aiudi and the white and black brigade, spoiled the guests with an enjoyable 7 course menu, accompanied by a selection of exquisite Italian wines. Dinner was enchanted by a classical music trio, underlining the 18th century theme of the evening and a gorgeous ballet–performance, presented by a group of little orphan girls, called Mia’s Children, who received a 500 euro donation from the Bailliage de Roumanie. The evenig was concluded in the lounge of the Inter Continental Hotel on the 21st floor with a Grappa tasting dessert and dancing till late.
On Sunday, as final stage of Romania’s first chapitre, the Athenee Palace Hilton Bucharest excelled with a delightful served brunch in four courses, which was highly praised by all guests. To support a Teledonshow organized by UNICEF at the Hilton that day, in favor of the orphans in Haiti, a spontaniously organized collection allowed to donate in the name of the Chaine des Rotisseurs 1500 Euro.
Unfortunately in the afternoon our internationals guest had to leave, but not without promising to visit us again.
For the succes of this event I would like to thank the organisation comittee, namely, Mr. Friedrich Niemann, Chancelier, Mrs. Eva Simone Perauer, Charge de Presse and Mr. Jean Alain Grumbach, Conseillier Gastronomique.
